outlining my “miracle morning” routine, I’ve received a handful of requests to sharemore about the process I use to write to my intuition. Although it’s something I’ve been doing for well over a year now,I’m by no means an expert on the topic. Thus, below you’ll find a mix of my own experiences, insights, and tips about how to write to your intuition along with links to helpful resources from those I consider to be intuitive writing experts. Ihope this post provides a foundational framework so that you may begin to engage in and lean on the intuitive writing process yourself!

What In the World Is Intuition Anyway?

Excellent question. If you ask Wikipedia, she’lltell you that, “Intuition is the ability to acquire knowledge without proof, evidence, or conscious reasoning, or without understanding how the knowledge was acquired.” Essentially, intuition is unconscious knowledge or cognition, an inner sensing or inner knowing. Thus, someone who is labeled “intuitive” engages in the process of perceiving directly through intuition without rational thought.

Withintuitive writing, the purpose is to unearth this knowledge, bringing unconscious knowing into conscious awareness so that it may be utilized for purposeful decision making, insight, and awareness.

If this is all feeling a little too woo woo for you, I’m right there with you.

Despite growing up with a motivationally and spiritually attuned mother by my side (our car rides to and from school were considerably more likely to be serenaded by the likes of Wayne Dyer, , and Jim Rohn than they were Sesame Street), up until the last several yearsor so I wasn’t all that open to the idea myself.

Despite maintaining a sense of hopefulness that there was indeed something greater out there , not that long ago, a little too much woo or touchy-feely intuitiveness would quickly send my mind racing for rational proof. Iread The Power of Now in 2007 and the bulk of itwent whizzing over my head in favor of my default woulda, coulda, shoulda perspective. The next book I picked up was Twilight, thankyouverymuch. But personal experiences combined with the thoughtful wisdom of those I consider to be mentors have softened me to the idea entirely.

What began as curiosity has unfolded into an immense passion for the spiritual side of life. The books my mom was touting, ranting, and raving about back in 2002 now (finally) adornmy very own book shelves.

Along with this sense of spiritual passion has come peace, calm, and a greater sense of purpose and clarity. So much so that there are days when I’m moved to tears by the beauty of whatwould have once seemed like the most mundane of experiences to me: the sight of a small exchange of kindness between two strangers, signs of synchronicity, and the goosebumps that appear in the face of a warmbreeze of inspiration. Those moments breathe life into my bones.

“Our members volunteer their skills, their money, and their time to conservation projects all over the country. They’re working on projects that will improve access for outdoorsmen, preserve wildlife, and passing on our heritage in outreach programs for the children of all communities,” he said.

As the founder of the USA, Fred still has his hands in all aspects of the organization, although he joked that he has since hired people better suited for those roles than him. The USA may still be a newcomer on the conservation scene, but it has changed greatly since the days when it was just a hunting and fishing club for union members.

“Our members are part of every community in the United States. They’re police officers, firefighters, machinists, and roofers,” Fred said. “They are people that touch our lives every single day.”

He explained that with members and volunteers so widely distributed, initiating hands-on programs is as simple as reaching out to few local unions.

“When we go in and we say we want to go build a bridge, build hog traps for the DNR in Wisconsin, pheasant boxes in New Jersey, or fish tanks in Texas to transport fingerlings, our guys are already there. It’s amazing.”

Youth mentorship programs are an important part of the USA’s goals of preserving our sporting heritage.

Last November, USA volunteers in Texas finished building blinds for young hunters with mobility challenges. The project was undertaken by members of the Houston-area union community, and it was their enthusiasm that made the project’s completion possible. Fred hopes that the USA’s continued growth will mean more projects like that one in the future. Like many of his contemporaries, Fred agrees that the future of America’s outdoor heritage lies with the next generation, and a key focus of the USA is on outreach and educational programs.

Brotherhood Outdoors is perhaps the USA’s most well-known bid to get young or dormant sportsmen excited about the outdoors. The show, which airs on the Sportsman Channel, follows hosts Daniel Lee Martin and Julie McQueen as they take guests on some of the wildest hunting and fishing trips in North America. Brotherhood Outdoors also showcases the hard work of blue-collar union members, and their dedication to work on and off the job.

It is Fred’s belief that American workers are the nation’s greatest natural resource—and one that can help safeguard the others.

“We truly believe that we’re one of the most unique conservation organizations in America,” Fred finished.
